We Know Gas Because We Used to Be the Gas Company
Meet the team Clayton calls when nobody else seems to know who to call for that.

From the Utility Side to Your Front Door
Eric didn't learn gas work from a trade school textbook. He spent close to three decades working on the utility side of the gas industry — the side that actually runs the lines, tests the systems, and signs off on the infrastructure your whole neighborhood depends on. When he founded Promaxxone, he brought every bit of that experience with him.
That's where the name "Gas Guru" comes from. It wasn't a marketing invention. It's what people in Clayton started calling Eric because, when a gas question stumped everyone else, he had the answer. That reputation stuck — and we've spent years making sure we deserve it every time someone calls.
We serve Clayton, Johnston County, and surrounding communities including Raleigh, Cary, and Apex. Whether you found us through a neighbor's recommendation or a referral from the gas company itself, you're in the right place.
Triple Licensed. Every Job, Every Credential.
A lot of contractors are licensed for one thing and quietly handle everything else. We don't operate that way. Promaxxone holds three active licenses — and each one exists for a specific reason.
Plumbing License
Covers gas line work, water heater installation, and all plumbing repairs legally and to code. This is the core of what we do every day.
HVAC License
This one surprises people. An HVAC license isn't just for air conditioning. It's what legally allows us to handle venting systems during remodels — the kind of work that affects gas appliances, combustion air, and indoor air quality. Without it, a contractor has to stop and call someone else. We don't stop.
General Contracting License
When a bathroom or kitchen remodel involves structural work, permits, or full-project coordination, this license is what makes it legal to run the whole job. You get one team, one point of contact, and no subcontracted mystery.
Three licenses means we can take a job from the gas line to the finished tile without handing it off. That matters more than most homeowners realize until they've dealt with the alternative.
Certified Rinnai Technician — Not Just "We Install Rinnai"
A lot of plumbers will tell you they install Rinnai tankless water heaters. Fewer can tell you they're manufacturer-certified to service and repair them.
Eric holds factory certification from Rinnai — the kind that comes from Rinnai's own training program, not a weekend course. That means when something goes wrong with a Rinnai unit, or when a new installation needs to be done exactly to spec, we're qualified at the level Rinnai itself recognizes. It also means we can service units that other plumbers have to turn away.

Family-Owned. Voted Neighborhood Favorite. We Don't Take Either Lightly.
Promaxxone is a family business, and that's not a tagline — it's how we operate. When you call us, you're not routed through a dispatch center. You're not getting a different tech every time. You're getting Eric and a team that knows your name, knows your house, and shows up when we say we will.
Our neighbors on Nextdoor voted us a neighborhood favorite, and that recognition means more to us than any industry award. Nextdoor votes come from real people on your street who've actually used the service. We earned that by doing the work right and treating people the way we'd want to be treated.
We're not the biggest operation in the Triangle. We're the one your neighbors actually recommend.

Questions People Ask About Us
Straight answers that reflect our approach
Who is Eric the Gas Guru?
Eric is the founder of Promaxxone and the person Clayton residents call for gas work that others won't touch. He spent close to three decades working on the utility side of the gas industry before starting Promaxxone, and he holds active licenses in Plumbing, HVAC, and General Contracting — plus manufacturer certification from Rinnai. The "Gas Guru" name came from the community, not a marketing agency.
Is Promaxxone a franchise or a local business?
Promaxxone is a locally owned family business based in Clayton, NC. There's no franchise, no national call center, and no rotating crew of subcontractors. When you call us, you get us.
What does it mean to be a certified Rinnai technician?
It means Eric completed Rinnai's manufacturer training program and is recognized by Rinnai as a qualified installer and service technician. Most plumbers can install a Rinnai unit. Fewer are certified to service and repair them. That certification matters when something goes wrong or when a warranty is involved.
Do you serve areas outside Clayton?
Yes. We serve Raleigh, Cary, and Apex regularly — in part because local gas companies in those areas refer customers to us directly. If you found us through a referral and you're outside Clayton, give us a call. Chances are we already work in your neighborhood.
Why do you need an HVAC license if you're a plumber?
An HVAC license covers venting systems — the ductwork, exhaust pathways, and combustion air systems that connect to gas appliances. During a kitchen or bathroom remodel, that venting often has to be modified. Without an HVAC license, a contractor legally can't touch it. We can, which means your remodel doesn't stall waiting on a second trade.
